SPARRING

Sparring is the practice of controlled combat in Taekwondo, where students learn how to apply their techniques in a dynamic, real-time setting against an opponent. It's an essential part of training that helps students develop timing, strategy, and the ability to respond quickly to various attacks and defences. Sparring sessions are closely supervised to ensure safety and focus on discipline, control, and respect. Through sparring, students build confidence, improve their reflexes, and gain a deeper understanding of their own strengths and areas for improvement.

POOMSAE

Poomsae, also known as forms or patterns, is a series of choreographed movements that represent a defensive and offensive battle against imaginary opponents. Each Poomsae follows a specific sequence of blocks, strikes, kicks, and stances, allowing students to practice precise techniques, balance, and focus. Practicing Poomsae helps develop muscle memory, strengthens the mind-body connection, and fosters discipline. It’s a foundational aspect of Taekwondo that emphasizes the importance of technique, form, and mental concentration, helping students progress through their belt ranks.

SELF DEFENCE

Self-defence training in Taekwondo equips students with practical techniques to protect themselves in real-world situations. These techniques include blocking, escaping holds, and using an opponent's momentum to neutralise potential threats. Self-defence lessons emphasise awareness, quick decision-making, and confidence, teaching students how to stay safe while avoiding unnecessary confrontation. This area of training empowers students with skills they can rely on outside the dojang, reinforcing the importance of responsibility and respect in all aspects of life.

Breaking 1.jpg

BREAKING

Breaking is the practice of using Taekwondo techniques to break boards or other materials, showcasing power, precision, and technique. It is often used as a demonstration of a student’s strength, focus, and skill development. Each break requires the proper application of a kicking or hand technique with the right power, accuracy, and confidence, emphasising the importance of both physical and mental preparation. Breaking challenges students to overcome their fears, set goals, and trust in their training, providing a tangible measure of their progress and accomplishments in Taekwondo.
